Mission Creek Houseboat, SF

Ana Panaligan and Ashley Preciado

Along Mission Creek San Francisco, sea level rise could increase up to 1 foot 2050 and 3.5 feet by 2100 according to the Ocean Protection Council. 90% of the Bay Area marchland has been lost over the past 20 years, which was in some ways the first line of defense against rising sea levels. The houseboats in Mission Creek can serve as a model to alternative housing as it adapts to the water levels day in and day out.

This is also an AR poster illustrates the Mission Creek houseboat adapting to the sea levels rising and also showing the changes overtime to the geography.

This work was also exhibited as part

of a pop-up exhibition of AR posters  “California Changing” developed through studios at UC Davis at SF Design Weekly. It was held from June 6, 10-7 at 419 10th Street San Francisco.
